ABOUT ME

My name is Jocelyn McClellan and I live with my family in one of the greatest little pieces of paradise in South Texas. As a child I grew up in a small town in Utah, most of the time in the outdoors, which means my life never had a dull moment. The world was at my feet as my imagination ran wild; I played outside and came inside only because the sun had gone down.

When I turned 14 my life changed a lot and my health declined from a parasite that I had somehow gotten. I was always fighting to keep weight on and fighting to keep food in my body. Later I developed ovarian cysts and everything went crazy from there. Three surgeries later on my ovaries and one fallopian tube from cysts and endometriosis, I was still lucky enough to give birth to 4 amazing babies (on bed rest with them all) with only one miscarriage. I lived my life for my kids and my kids only.

That active little girl didn't exist anymore unless it was from chasing toddlers and lifting carseats and strollers around. My health still never got better and I let an anxiety take over from always worrying about having a sick stomach everywhere I went. I put up walls and became a worry wart over little fears which related to my stomach issues.

It wasn't til after my fourth child was a couple months old that I decided it was time to take care of my body. My mom had suffered from a heart attack and broken a bone just from taking a wrong step (osteoporosis runs in the family) and I didn't want any of that to happen to me. I was determined that if I could find a way to prevent it, I was going to. My life has been forever changed because of becoming physically active.

It wasn't easy to get started though, I was one weak momma. I started lifting the 5lb dumbbells and thought I was going to die! Even doing the most simple of exercises had me lying flat on the ground thinking I was going to puke. Don't be fooled into thinking you're the only one out of shape, I have been there and I know what it is like to have to start from scratch. On the other hand, I also know how amazing it is to go from being a weakling to feeling like the hulk (although I still look like a stick figure, next to the hulk).

When I started my fit mission my whole world changed. I looked at myself differently. My attitude became more positive, I started getting out of the ol' "mom sweats", and began looking at life in a whole different way, knowing that I wasn't just a mom (although that job is stellar), I was individual that had dreams to chase as well.

I wouldn't have had the ability to do what I currently do with my kids if it weren't for working out and getting fit. Those hikes I take my kids on where I end up packing them half way or the trampoline that gets jumped on for hours or the piggy back races would never be able to happen had I not made my fitness a priority again and got my life on track. I don't want my kids or others to have to suffer through years of inactivity or physical weakness. If I could have one "do over" I would have been active the whole time through. I would have realized that I needed to take care of myself in order to take care of others. Its a dream, desire, and passion to teach others to take care of themselves and their children so they can have the tools and knowledge to be active forever and never put themselves on the back burner.
